Who We Are
On June 20, 2003, two day’s before her 38th birthday,
Jacqui Bryan was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. Her
doctor had the difficult task of informing her about her
diagnosis. At that moment her world stopped and she began
to flounder. Any cancer survivor will tell you that the
worst part of the whole “cancer process” is the beginning.
The first hours, days or weeks of living with this diagnosis
are without a doubt the most terrifying moments most breast
cancer survivors will ever experience.
After 6 surgeries, 8 rounds of chemotherapy and 6 weeks
of radiation, Jacqui looked back over her “cancer”
experience finding holes or “gaps”. Several things could
have been handled differently to better support her needs
along this journey.
From that experience, Jacqui had the great pleasure of
starting and organizing "Seacoast Breast Friends” a social
support and e-mail community. With their support and
Jacqui’s vision, Fill the Gap, Inc. was formed in 2007 to
"fill the gap" that patients and their families experience
when facing a possible cancer diagnosis.
